Marvel Legends to Inspire Upcoming Magic: The Gathering Drops

We're thrilled to share updates on the much-anticipated collaboration between Magic: The Gathering and Marvel, first announced in 2023. During the recent New York Comic Con, we learned more about this partnership, including the launch of five themed Secret Lair drops starting November 4, 2024.

Each of these special drops will feature a Legendary creature representing one of five Marvel icons: Black Panther, Storm, Iron Man, Wolverine, and Captain America. The creatures' abilities will mirror the distinct powers of their corresponding characters. For instance, the Iron Man-inspired creature will have the capability to create Treasure tokens and swap an artifact for another, enhancing gameplay strategically.

These Secret Lair Drops will be available in non-foil for $39.99 and foil for $49.99, and will include:

• Secret Lair x Marvel’s Captain America
• Secret Lair x Marvel’s Iron Man
• Secret Lair x Marvel’s Wolverine
• Secret Lair x Marvel’s Storm
• Secret Lair x Marvel’s Black Panther

In addition to these exciting releases, Wizards of the Coast announced a major Spider-Man-centered Tentpole Booster set. Similar to the Lord of the Rings set from June 2023, which was incorporated into the Modern competitive format, this set is poised to make a significant impact. Details on card specifics and format legality are still under wraps.

The full Magic: The Gathering will set inspired by Spider-Man is slated for a 2025 release, though it's still uncertain if it will include prebuilt Commander decks.
