Assassin’s Creed Shadows Early Access Cancelled – Ubisoft Cuts Collector’s Edition Price

Ubisoft has unveiled the termination of preliminary admittance for its forthcoming creation, Assassin's Creed Shadows, and has implemented a $50 discount on the Collector's Edition after facing a series of complications. In a Discord post, the company explained that this decision comes after delays to the game, the cancellation of the planned Season Pass, and the removal of the three-day early access period that was originally set to begin on November 15.

As a result, the price of the Collector’s Edition has dropped from $280 to $230. While some design adjustments may be made, Ubisoft assures that most of the content will remain as initially advertised. Buyers of the Collector’s Edition will continue to acquire the game, accompanied by a spectrum of artwork, collectibles, and a miniature sculpture representing the principal characters. The delay also hinted at the removal of early access from the Collector’s Edition.

The game was initially scheduled for a two-phase release:

  • Early access on November 12
  • General release on November 15

Now, however, the new release date has been consolidated to a single launch on February 14, 2025. Ubisoft took some time to confirm the date, but now players have clarity on when they can finally play the game. The delay follows a challenging period for Ubisoft, including mixed reviews of Star Wars Outlaws, which the company says influenced their recent decisions.

These setbacks have affected stock prices, leading to speculation that CEO Yves Guillemot might be considering buyout offers. Despite the challenges, Ubisoft emphasized that the delay aims to ensure Assassin's Creed Shadows meets their high standards, calling it "the most ambitious entry in the franchise." With the new release date set in a competitive February, the game faces fierce competition that could reshape the RPG landscape.
